Roundtrip – 9 km, 1080 m ascent (1,438 m to 2,544 m).

Starting point:
“Stâna lui Burnei” – an old sheepfold accessible by car on a gravel road.
Route details
From Stâna lui Burnei we follow the Red Triangle Markings until we reach the main ridge in Portița Viștei 2310m.
From there we go uphill to Viștea Mare Peak 2524m on the Red Stripe Markings.
From Viștea we go South through some rocky exposed sections until we reach Moldoveanu Peak.
We go back down the same way.
Trail Markings: the route is 100% on marked trails, there are no orientation problems.
Water Sources:
- most of the trail is near a river but it’s safer to only drink water from the spring close to Viștea.
Surface
Most of the trail is dirt, grass and rocks.
Alternative routes:
- You can also get to Moldoveanu via Galbena Peak but there are unmarked parts.
